Our Leaders

La Leche League is a parent-to-parent breastfeeding support organization. Our leaders have all breastfed their babies into toddlerhood. They have been involved with their local group and completed an accreditation process through La Leche League International.

LLL Leaders are all volunteers. They are not paid for the work they do.

Amanda

Amanda accredited as a Leader in 2024 but has been an active member of the LLL San Antonio group since 2022.  She first joined the Facebook group as a pregnant, first time mom and began to attend in-person meetings.  Her nursing journey with her son started out with a lot of difficulties due to his oral ties and body tension from birth.  With help from La Leche League Leaders and medical professionals, Amanda was able to nurse him for over 21 months.  The continued mother-to-mother support throughout her nursing and motherhood journey, through both the highs and the lows, and seeing other moms have success with a little bit of help and encouragement led Amanda to become a Leader.

Cassy

Cassy joined La Leche League in 2017 after facing struggles breastfeeding her daughter. She contributes her breastfeeding success to the support of her husband and La Leche League. From this experience, she was inspired to help others. After the birth of her son, she completed the leader accreditation process in 2024. She is especially interested in helping breastfeeding mothers returning to work as she saw a need for this when she herself returned to work after the birth of both her children. Cassy has worked in biomedical research for 15 years.

Tina

Headshot of Tina.

Tina started attending La Leche League meetings while pregnant with her first baby. She knew that she had found her community. She became a Leader in 1999 and has led meetings in Austin, Killeen, Corpus Christi, and San Antonio. Tina is the proud parent of three grown children. La Leche League and her fellow Leaders taught her how to be a gentle parent who felt comfortable meeting her baby’s needs. La Leche League also helped Tina to find her calling. She has gone on to work in maternal and child health for many years and feels lucky to do work that she loves.

Katherine

Katherine attended her first La Leche League meeting just after the first of her two sons was born in College Station, Texas. One of the leaders was Kelley’s mom. 🙂  Katherine became a leader in 1996 and has attended and led meetings in Seattle, WA, Waco, and San Antonio. She has served many roles in LLL of Texas and LLL International. As many leaders have noted, LLL has provided Katherine a diversely comprised network of peers and role models as well as tools to be a better parent, not just a provider of human milk.
